Motorcycle Raffle

Congratulations to Joe Kubish, the proud owner of a brand new 2008 Harley-Davidson Rocker FXCWC. On June 1st, 2008, at the Tenth Annual Officer Brian A. Aselton Memorial Motorcycle Run, Joe’s raffle ticket was pulled out of the raffle wheel. Thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket and helped a young person afford a college education.

 Officer Brian A. Aselton Memorial Motorcycle Run

The annual Officer Brian A. Aselton Memorial Motorcycle Run is held on the first Sunday following Memorial Day every year and is the primary fundraiser for Brian’s scholarship fund. Approximately one thousand motorcyclists from across the northeast participate on all makes of motorcycles. All proceeds directly benefit Brian’s scholarship fund. Brian was an avid motorcyclist and had purchased a brand new 1999 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy the month before he was murdered.

The Eleventh Annual Officer Brian A. Aselton Memorial Motorcycle Run, sponsored by Gengras Harley-Davidson/Buell, will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2009, rain or shine. All friends and supporters of law enforcement on all makes of bikes are welcome. Registration will be from 8:00-9:45am at Gengras Harley-Davidson/Buell, 221 Governor St., East Hartford, CT. West Hartford police Sergeant Kevin McCarthy will sing the National Anthem just prior to the ride starting. The ride will start at 10:00am.

A donation of $20.00, which includes coffee and donuts by Dunkin' Donuts and lunch by Outback Steakhouse, is requested for each motorcycle.

The ride will finish at Knights of Columbus, 1831 Main St., East Hartford, with lunch, music, and a raffle. The raffle will include various other items from our sponsors. Long sleeve and short sleeve T-shirts, and other memorial items, will be available in January at Gengras Harley-Davidson/Buell, Connecticut Police Supply, and the Finest and Bravest LLC.  A limited quantity of shirts will be available the day of the ride. The Road Dawgs Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, Connecticut Chapter, hosts a party every year the night before the run. A portion of the proceeds benefit Brian's scholarship fund.  Officer Brian A. Aselton Memorial Blood Drive

The annual Officer Brian A. Aselton Memorial Blood Drive is held in January every year at Joseph O. Goodwin Elementary School, 1235 Forbes Street, East Hartford. Goodwin School is located 2 miles south of Silver Lane and .5 miles south of Brewer Street.

Next year’s blood drive will be Friday, Friday, January 9th, 2009. If you would like to schedule an appointment for giving blood contact the American Red Cross at 1-800-GIVE-LIFE or click on their logo to schedule by email. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are preferred. Blood supplies are critically low right now so please give blood in Brian’s memory.

 Memorial Snow Dash 3.05 Road Race

The annual Officer Brian A. Aselton Memorial Snow Dash 3.05 Mile Road Race is held each winter in East Hartford. The race begins and ends at the East Hartford Golf Course, 130 Long Hill Street. Trophies are awarded in many different divisions. Proceeds are divided evenly between Brian’s scholarship fund and the East Hartford Police Department Quality of Life Program. Next winter's race date to be announced. For more information contact East Hartford Parks and Recreation.


2008 Snow Dash

Hartford Wolf Pack LogoThe Hartford Wolf Pack play a game each season in memory of Brian. All proceeds will be used to construct and maintain a police officer's memorial in front of the new East Hartford public safety complex. The memorial will include the names of the three East Hartford police officers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the Town of East Hartford. May the walls never be filled.

 Barnstable Police Events 

Barnstable Massachusetts Patrolman Michael K. Aselton, Brian's cousin, gave his life in the line of duty on March 29th, 1983. Michael was involved in motor vehicle accident while pursuing a motorcycle. In memory of Michael, the Town of Barnstable constructed the Michael K. Aselton Memorial Park at Hyannis Harbor. At the park is a flagpole dedicated to Brian. Brian worked as a summer police officer for the Town of Barnstable during the summer of 1996.

The Barnstable Police Aselton Fund hosts the annual Michael K. Aselton Memorial Softball Tournament and the annual Michael K. Aselton Memorial Golf Tournament each year. The golf tournament is held in May and the softball tournament is held in September.
